Diamond Electronics Group's MD visits No 10
07 September 2009

Managing Director of Smallwood based Diamond Electronics received an invitation to a reception at 10 Downing Street in June to join Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Business Secretary Lord Mandelson in celebration of innovation building Britain's future.
The Prime Minister thanked business leaders and entrepreneurs of the SME business community for their drive and commitment to innovation and pledged to help support those who created businesses and jobs through innovation and creativity.
Diamond Electronics is a leading specialist electronic component supplier established in November 1979 by Darren's parents, Ray and Betty Hesketh. Himself celebrating 28 years with Diamond Electronics this year, Darren commented "The reception at Number 10 was a fantastic experience and it was inspiring to meet so many successful business leaders.
Celebrated entrepreneurs such as James Caan from the BBC's Dragons Den were in attendance and we were allowed access to many areas of number 10, the Cabinet Room included, which was extremely interesting" Business Secretary Lord Mandelson urged entrepreneurs at the reception to make the most of the economic downturn by continuing to launch new business ventures."Some of Britain's biggest businesses were born in a recession. The point is to start your business early on in order to be ready for the up-turn, like the one that's going to come our way." These were encouraging words for Diamond Electronics who have recently launched a new division, Diamond LED Lighting which markets environmentally friendly and energy saving LED lighting products.
